Jin Shin Jyutsu Seminar November 12-15 2018

Jin Shin Jyutsu Seminar this month

Another life changing Jin Shin Jyutsu seminar was held this month. Sara Harper from Tucson, Arizona gave a 3 day Living the Art and one day Special Topic seminar at the Mercy Spiritualist Centre in Epsom, Auckland.

4 days of listening to Sara Harper, receiving Jin Shin Jyutsu treatments and enjoying being with like-minded people. Could it get better?

Sara is a gifted teacher, and combined with over 40 years of Jin Shin Jyutsu treatments, practice and teaching, Sara has an ability to ‘be’ no matter where she is, combined with an engaging personality. Sara has spent time with Mary Burmeister since she was 14 receiving life changing treatments, being taught and mentored as an instructor.

One of Sara’s gifts as a teacher was sharing stories with us that brought Jin Shin Jyutsu out of the ‘unseen and abstract’ into the ‘real world’.

Imagine swimming in Hawaii and being stung by a Portuguese Man of War jellyfish, crawling back on to the shore, rubbing her skin with sand to get rid of the jellyfish’s stinging tentacles, giving herself Jin Shin Jyutsu which saved her life. How can we ever forget that self-help flow in which Sara crossed her hands and held above her knees on her inner thighs?

Or being in a car accident and being hit by a drunk driver going 60 miles an hour in which she received life threatening injuries and severe brain injuries to being the person she is today. All with the help of Jin Shin Jyutsu.

Throughout the classes Sara explained and demonstrated Mary Burmeister’s 3 Self Help Books, linking them with the main text books to bring a deeper understanding of safety energy locks, finger holds and self-help flows. Everything we need for a lifestyle of self-healing with Jin Shin Jyutsu.

What is Jin Shin Jyutsu?

Jin Shin Jyutsu is a philosophy, a psychology and physiology. It is the story of how energy comes into the body and how to keep energy harmonized in spirit, mind and body.

The message from the seminars is it is our birthright to be able to heal ourselves with our breath and hands. Self-healing wisdom has been around for thousands of years. It is simple to do – all you have to do – is do it!

We are energy. When we magnify our cells millions of times, we see more space than form in each atom. If our cells are mostly energy and cells make up our body, our body must be mostly energy.

Energy continuously and simultaneously flows through our body. When energy flows become congested, they deviate, stagnate and become the cause of disharmony, which unheeded, becomes disease.

Diet, lifestyle, accidents, aging, attitudes are some causes for energy congestion.

When thoughts are linked with feelings they become emotions. The biggest favour we can do for ourselves is to keep our emotions moving. Emotions = energy in motion. Emotions stuck in the body become attitudes and these are the basis for all disease.

How can we help ourselves?

The good news is that we can harmonise our attitudes easily with our fingers on a daily basis. Hold each finger gently until you can feel a pulsing in them. Breathe in fully and drop your shoulders as you breathe out. Too simple? Maybe.

In my experience, we can understand something, but until we experience it, it doesn’t become our reality. Luckily, we don’t have to see the whole staircase before we take the first step. We start to use self-help and when we see profound results, we are more likely to start believing. Until then it is abstract and not meaningful.

Take a moment to think about how we complicate our lives. Is complicated best? For me simple things are the most precious– sharing a friendship, enjoying nature, being with loved ones.

Some of my favourite holds from the seminar are:

For eyesight improvement:

Do one or more of these holds regularly through the day

Hold above one eye with the back of your hand. The other hand holds under the armpit.

Or place thumbs in the inside corners of your eyes and rest fingers on your forehead.

Or place fingertips under opposite eye and other hand behind neck where scalp joins neck (occipital bone)

The next Jin Shin Jyutsu seminar coming up is with Wayne Hackett, March 9-14 2019 at the Waihi Academy.
